Open Source Policy
Orchestr Aerospace Inc. is a proprietary technology company. Our core products — including the Orch Avionic 1 EFB hardware, JebediahOS, VATRadio, and the Orch A320 Guide — are developed in-house and represent significant investment in research, engineering, and design.
What We Release
Like other technology companies at the frontier — OpenAI, Google, Meta — we believe that selectively releasing components as open source accelerates the broader ecosystem, invites collaboration, and strengthens trust.
Our open source efforts are focused exclusively on educational software and hardware, strictly for learning purposes. We believe sharing educational tools advances the field without compromising our competitive position.
First Principles
First Principles is one such project. It is an educational game that teaches calculus, physics, and aerodynamics through interactive gameplay. We release it openly because education should be accessible — and because a student learning about lift coefficients and Riemann sums today may be an aerospace engineer tomorrow.
What We Protect
Our proprietary systems — real-time embedded operating systems, ATC transcription pipelines, on-device AI models, synthetic vision algorithms, and hardware designs — remain closed source. These represent our core intellectual property and competitive advantage.
Our Approach
- Open-source educational and community tools
- Proprietary core technology and hardware
- Contribute upstream to projects we depend on
- Respect the licenses of all third-party software we use
